National Team 2017

I am so excited to announce that I have been selected for the 2017-18 Canadian Sailing Team!
This has been my goal for many years, and is a major step in my dream to represent Canada at the Olympic Games. This past year I have made some really big strides in my sailing and have had much better competition results to show for it, which is what team selection is ultimately based upon. I have been selected as a Next Gen team member, which means I have potential for a strong 2020 performance.
At the moment I am feeling really proud and confident, because I know I can work hard and I am seeing the results of that work. I feel I am on an upwards trajectory, and I know that I can maintain this momentum and excitement going forward. One of my biggest strengths in general is my work ethic; I may not be the most talented or “a natural”, but I try really hard to better myself everyday. I have come to realize that big goals are not achieved all at once, but in little tiny increments, even though sometimes it is hard to foresee the net result.
I am really looking forward to working with the other national team girls, and putting on that maple leaf. My next competition will be my peak event for the year, the World Championships in Medemblik, Netherlands. I am proud I will be a part of the Canadian team there, and I am excited already to race!
